Behavioral Services

If you are here reading this now, it may be because your dog's behavior and your relationship has reached a challenging point.  We can help. Dogs, like people, can develop genuine behavioral issues that affect their overall well-being and disrupt the harmony of your home. Behavioral issues go beyond simple obedience problems—they are often rooted in underlying factors such as past trauma, attention deficits, or even health changes.  Because your dog can’t communicate the reasons behind their actions, signs like aggression, anxiety, or reactivity may be their way of expressing discomfort or distress. In contrast, obedience issues typically involve challenges with following commands or learning tricks, which are more about training gaps rather than deeper emotional or physical problems. For instance, a dog that struggles to sit on command may simply need more structured training, while one that displays aggressive behavior in stressful situations might be signaling an unresolved issue that requires a tailored, therapeutic approach. By understanding these differences, we can provide you with the right support and guidance. While Googling symptoms might give you a few ideas, it lacks the depth and nuance required to truly understand your dog's behavior. By gathering a full picture, we can reason out the underlying causes and create a tailored ROADMAP that addresses the specific challenges and strengths of your pet.  Offering you effective an and compassionate approach to behavioral solutions helping you and your dog’s long-term well-being and restore balance at home.

Your Roadmap

Every clients journey is unique and while we can't tell you yet what your's will look like yet, these are the main stages of the process.

01

Consultation

Just like a doctor who needs a complete medical history to accurately diagnose an issue, our consultation digs deep into every area of your dog’s life—daily routines, environment, past experiences, health, training history, diet and your unique relationship.

Starting in your home and lasting approximately two hours it will help us gain a deeper understanding of the behaviors and emotional triggers while assessing all possible contributing factors. We will also guide you on the first steps to address these behaviors and provide a detailed written report with our findings and recommendations.

02

Ongoing Support

Now that you have had your consultation and have been given your personalised plan and recommendations, this is where the hard work starts and change begins.

As you work to implement the recommendations, we offer support and guidance through weekly check-ins as well where you can ask questions and problem shoot. This ensures that you feel confident, supported and empowered to work through your dogs issues with the aid of an experienced Behaviourist supporting you throughout.  It also ensures that we can spot any red flags before they take root.

We offer a range of services designed around the Consultations findings:

Personalised 1:1 sessions - to target your dog’s unique triggers
Flexible online consults for convenient expert guidance
Specialised reactivity classes - to help your dog manage their responses in real-life situations.

Walk Talk Train (Reactivity) - even more real world environments.

03

Polishing

By this stage, the majority of the heavy lifting has been done. Your dog will have developed new behaviours, and we should now be seeing consistent positive patterns where previously there were negative habits and responses.

You will have a clear understanding of your dog’s individual needs and how best to support them. Routines and structures will be in place that suit both you and your dog, and overall, their behaviour should be steady and reliable. While old triggers may occasionally resurface, this is the phase where we begin to refine and eliminate any remaining negative behaviours or lingering patterns.

At this point, our role is to offer services that help to extinguish any residual issues and further enhance your dog’s overall well-being. We can also begin to introduce additional activities beyond those in Stage 2, such as scentwork and mantrailing.
