Mentee Programme 2026
What's it all about
The K9 Insight Menteeship is a structured 12-month programme designed to give you the solid foundation needed to become a confident, well-rounded dog trainer. By the end of the year, successful mentees will have the skills and experience to continue their professional development, explore specialist areas, and take the next steps in their dog training career.

Throughout the 12 months, you’ll receive hands-on experience, practical coaching, and in-person mentoring. You’ll shadow experienced trainers across our core courses, attend workshops and training events, and take part in monthly 1:1 coaching and appraisal sessions with our Head Instructor. You’ll gain insight not only into dog training techniques but also into how to teach and communicate effectively with both dogs and owners.

The programme operates on an exchange model: instead of a training fee, you’ll complete practical working hours with K9 Insight. Over the year, your independence and responsibilities will grow, and you’ll be expected to give back value to the business in line with the training and experience you’ve received — all while gaining essential hands-on learning.
We would be looking for our mentee to be able to commit to a minimum of 3 hours a week initially, increasing over the 12 months. Some weeks will be busier than others and the majority of hours will take place during evenings and weekends, however there will also be mid week daytime opportunities for development available.
The right fit
Our Menteeship is built around K9 Insight’s core principles: Education, Application, and Relationships.
We don’t just teach what to train — we explore why it matters and how to deliver it with purpose and clarity.
We’re looking for someone curious, thoughtful, and brave enough to question the status quo. You’ll need more than just a love of dogs (though that’s a given) — we want someone hungry to learn, eager to grow, and motivated to make a real difference.

At K9 Insight, we’re constantly evolving — creating new material, challenging our own thinking, and striving for excellence in everything we do. If you’re at the beginning of your dog training journey but have that unmistakable spark and drive to develop, you’ll fit right in
The Nuts & Bolts
Dog training isn’t a 9-to-5 job — it’s a lifestyle. Our busiest times are evenings and weekends, often outdoors in all weather conditions. If you can deliver top-tier training while standing in a wet, windy field at 9 a.m., you’re exactly who we’re looking for.

This is initially a menteeship, not a paid role. The value of the training and mentoring provided in the first year alone is worth nearly £5,000. As your knowledge, confidence, and capability grow, so will your opportunities to contribute meaningfully to classes — and with that, the potential for remuneration.
Applying
We know that not everyone shines on paper — and that’s okay. Traditional CVs don’t always capture the energy, creativity, or passion that make someone stand out. So, we’re giving you the freedom to apply in whatever way best represents you.

Tell us who you are, what drives you, and why you think you’re a great fit for the K9 Insight menteeship. If your CV says it best, send it in. If you’ve got a creative streak — maybe you’re an aspiring rapper, storyteller, or video creator — then show us your personality your way. Whether it’s a short video, a written piece, or something totally unique, we want to see you at your best.

Send your application to hello@k9insight.co.uk with the subject line “Mentee Application”. If it is difficult to send your submission via email, get in touch and we can arrange.
Applications must be received by 9th January.
Those who catch our attention will be invited to a formal interview and given the chance to attend one of our classes.
